Aquapendente

Aquapendente is not located right on Lake Bolsena, but 12 kilometers north of it. With its 6000 inhabitants, it ranks about the larger cities near the lake. Because of its big shops, it is a popular destination for shopping. The big COOP at the city entrance provides all kinds of Italian delicacies.

The area around Aquapendente is an old Etruscan and Roman sttlement area, as evidenced by numerous artifacts from the surrounding area. As the centre of one of the most important rural communities in the province of Viterbo, Aquapendente produces legumes, vegetables and wine and is famous for its handmade pottery. At the town entrance there is the so called „Julia de Jacopo“, which was used as a gate in the old city wall. On the opposite side is the Cathedral of Holy Sepulchre, which was dedicated by the Bishop of Orvieto Aldobrandino in 1149. Also important is the Gothic church S. Francesco, which was once dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

Aquapendente & infrastructure

Beside the mentioned COOP, there are a large number of small shops and fashion boutiques in Aquapendente. Ceramic shops offer their products everywhere. In the city centre you can also find shopping opportunities for your photo- and electronic needs. The marketplace in the center of Aquapendente is surrounded by some nice cafes and restaurants.
