Marta
3574 people live in the picturesque village of Marta. Many of them live on fishing, as the nearby islands provide plenty of it. Likewise, the vineyards are of great value and strong tradition. So both occupations characterized the image of Marta in the first Centuries after its founding in 726 AD. Marta is an oasis of calm and tranquillity and a walk along the harbour with its wonderful view of the small island Martana is like a dream.
Marta is known for its octagonal clock tower, which was build on a hill in the west of the village. Unfortunately you can not visit the tower, but the view of the islands and Capodimonte is definitely worth visiting Marta. The wine produced in Marta is very famous and strong, especially the „Cannaila“, which is very limited.
Marta & infrastructure
The variety of extraordinary shopping opportunities is very limited, but shops for everyday commodities are available in Marta. There is no internet cafe yet, but the small restaurants and cafes at the pier are perfect to relax and enjoy an espresso.
